Mohammed Alajlan
Mohammed Alajlan is a professional Saudi fine artist, calligrapher, poet, an international judgment in the arts of Arabic calligraphy, and a researcher fellow in Arabic letter philosophy. He was born and raised in Riyadh city in 1962. Ever since he was 10 years old, he has been fond of Arabic language and its alphabets. Since then, he has been researching its aesthetics and secrets and their connections to arts. He is participated in many group exhibitions in and outside Kingdom. Alajlan has been exhibited at UNESCO exhibition in Paris 2019, Art Dubai, Abu Dhabi Art, Shanghai National History Museum, and Beirut. Alajlan was honored in 2019 as one of the pioneers of Saudi plastic art by Misk Art Foundation, which is affiliated with the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Foundation. He was selected as jury committee member participating in the Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial in 2022. He held 15 solo exhibitions.
Dr. Hakim Abbas a fine art critic once commented about Alajlan’s art style saying: he (Alajlan) forms his art work with a combination of literature (poetry in particular) and his deep knowledge of Arabic calligraphy taking advantage of his practice and experience of taking the letter into a unique level of creativity, setting free its original form of proportions and laws of the Arabic language making it resilient to his brush streamline to draw a unique dimension of entanglement and circles full of colors and energy. What really distinguishes Alajlan’s piece of art is his ability to transform the Arabic letter to an endless magical entanglement and movements that seems to go on to eternity.
Furthermore, he has got many of his art holdings distributed in Europe, America, Australia, Africa, and Arabian gulf States. His art got the same publicity impact among Saudi Arabia’s most important figures like princes, ministers, and businessmen, as his art has reached government authorities such as, “Ministry of Foreign Affairs”, “Ministry of Interior”, “Ministry of Education”, “Ministry of Energy”, “Ministry of Culture”, “The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu”, “King Abdulaziz & his companions Foundation for Giftedness & Creativity“ , “The office of His Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah” along with banks and many private sectors in the Kingdom.
